Direct Care Staff

Job Description:
  • Plan and carry out meaningful and purposeful programmes and activities to enable residents to learn new things or continue to use their abilities
  • Help residents experience autonomy by supporting them in their basic activities of daily living (e.g. dressing, meal, toileting, personal hygiene, mobility) through appropriate levels of prompt/cues
  • Support therapy interventions in the ward to enable residents to optimise their functions in daily living
  • Perform general housekeeping to maintain cleanliness of wards including equipment, furniture and tools
  • Meal set up and assist in serving meals and drink to residents
  • Collaborate with staff in the ward to deliver quality care services to residents (eg. Vital signs taking for residents)

  1. Make frequent rounds and attend to residents’ needs. Ensure the safety, comfort and well-being of the residents and report residents’ needs to the nurse
  2. Assist in ensuring the comfort and good personal hygiene of the residents under his/ her care, and keeping them clean, e.g. oral toilet, showering and grooming, trimming of nails, changing of diapers, changing of clothes and bed sheets

Job Requirement

The typical responsibilities of a physiotherapist include:

 

Clinical Care

  1. Is responsible for compliance of all therapy standards as stipulated by the Ministry of Health and Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC)
  2. Assess, plan, implement, evaluate and document therapy needs of residents to facilitate, restore, improve or maintain movement/function for all new admissions. Review and update plan 6 monthly or more frequently as needed
  3. Provide leadership to the therapy staff to ensure safe and quality resident care, and in compliance to standards. Is responsible for the supervision, evaluation and disciplining of staff in her/ his team
  4. Promote evidence-based practices on therapy services
  5. Ensure written policies, procedures and work process are available and up to date to guide therapy services
  6. Evaluate and ensure that therapy services are being delivered in accordance to policies, guidelines and procedures
  7. Assist in the implementation of resident’s discharge plan to ensure smooth transition back to the community

Job Description

  • Collect dirty linens and clothing from the wards twice a day with trolley assistance.
  • Separate and wash residents’ clothing, linens such as draw sheets, bed sheets, pillow cases and, patient care accessories separately using washing and dry machines in a laundry room.
  • Ensure optimization of each washing or drying cycle.
  • Assist in daily operations, including folding, packing, dispatching of laundry.
  • Maintain a clean environment in the washing area and keep laundry equipment in good condition.
  • Monitor stock level of laundry inventory and to provide stock report.
  • Any other laundry related duties.
 

Job requirement

  • Primary Education with PSLE / PSPE or Equivalent
  • Ability to read basic English written instructions labelled on a laundry machine .(eg.”start”,”temperature”)
  • On-the-job training will be provided.
